Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you feel like no matter how hard you try, nothing seems to be going right? You see people all around you doing well,  succeeding with ease while you’re tripping over your own feet trying to get through a single day at a time. What makes you different to them, when you feel like you’re more deserving?  People around you seem to be getting married, having kids, getting that big promotion, buying a house, travelling around the world, creating businesses so quickly and just moving along in life at a remarkable pace. We seem to compare ourselves to a single snapshot of someone else’s life and them looking good in a picture, and we feel like no matter how hard we try, we’ll never look that good, never dress that good, and never feel that good.

This is the stage I like to call ‘life‘. THIS IS LIFE. There will always be someone that’s prettier, more intelligent or more successful than you. If you continually compare yourself to others you will forever be disappointed in the person you are. The person God intended you to be.  We can’t control what others do, how others act, or what they look like. We can however, control what WE do.

We’re so busy comparing ourselves to the person who is more successful that we fail to see that we’ve put ourselves in a situation where we fear failure, and therefore it has prevented us from grasping the opportunities in front of us with both hands. We’re so busy watching other people’s Instagram stories that we haven’t enough time to invest into our own real life stories. We’re so fascinated by the appearance of others on social media, that we forget that a personality plays a big part in who a person is as an individual. Yes we look at appearances, but if an apple is appealing on the outside but rotten to the core, is it really worth eating? Both appearances and a persons personality play roles hand in hand. Don’t wish to look like another, because when we continue to wish, but not receive…we can turn bitter without even realising it.

I have felt like this before and I guarantee even the strongest of people have felt this way at least once in their life. Thing is, you may think your life is boring, and that you have achieved nothing, but for someone else, looking from the outside in, you have everything they have been wishing and praying so hard for.

We never realise the great things we have going for us, because we spend so much time looking into the lives of others, and comparing ourselves to them. Nobody sees the struggles, the hard work, determination, the many failures before the success because nobody wants to shout about these parts of their life. These are the parts we don’t see on social media. Don’t think someone has it easy because they’re doing well in one aspect of life. Everyone has, and always will have their own demons to fight.

Their time may be now, but your time will come. Sometimes, more often than not, it’s not about finishing first in the race. It’s having the strength to try and finish. Things will happen for you, as they did for the person before you, when the time is right. Forget about others, we are all working in our own time zones. We are each in our own race, we’re not late, we’re not early. We are very much bang on schedule.
